What’s Next for Caesarstone?

We’re sure you’ve heard the news around Engineered Stone, but what is going to happen in the future?

As of December last year the Australian Federal Government made the decision to ban Engineered Stone, beginning on the 1st of July 2024. It is important to note that not all state and territory governments have agreed to the timing of this ban, but no further information on this has been provided as of yet.

Caesarstone will be releasing a crystalline silica-free formulation, which will match many of their existing colours. This will make the transition easier and will hopefully mean customers won’t need to change their selections if chosen before the cutoff date.

Additionally, products such as Caesarstone’s porcelain collection will still be available. If you’re interested in By Urban renovating your kitchen, bathroom, laundry or any other room in your house, book a consultation today!

Frequently Asked Questions

Will Caesarstone honour its lifetime warranty on surfaces that are banned?

Every Caesarstone® surface has a lifetime warranty, which is not impacted by these changes.

How do we know in the future that crystalline silica free surfaces won’t be banned?

While we cannot predict the future certainty of crystalline silica-free surfaces being banned, it’s important to note that silica is present in numerous materials widely used in daily building and construction activities, such as bricks, concrete, tiles, and sandstone. Implementing a blanket ban on all materials containing silica is not a practical solution to address silica-related illnesses.

To effectively manage and mitigate the risks, a comprehensive approach is necessary, including worker education, uniform standards, monitoring, a licensing regime, and robust enforcement by regulators for work involving all products containing silica. Caesarstone® remains committed to advocating for such measures to ensure the safety of all workers.

Is my family safe if I have a crystalline silica surface in my home?

Regardless of the type of Caesarstone® surface in your home, Caesarstone can guarantee its complete safety. Exposure to fine crystalline silica particles occurs during the fabrication process, particularly when fabricators fail to adhere to proper safety procedures.
